YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

  • How to reserve my flight with Azur Parapente ?

To fly with us, make an appointment, by phone, email, Messenger, text, Instagram...

We will always find a way that works for you :)

Two days before your flight you will receive a reminder email with the scheduled

time for your flight. The day before the flight, around 6pm, we will call you to confirm

the exact time of the meeting, depending on the weather conditions.

Any appointment not cancelled 48 hours in advance is due, unless we manage to

replace you in your time slot with another customer.

  • This is my first time! Which flight should I choose ?

We offer two flight durations, 10/15 minutes and 20/40 minutes, to suit all budgets

    and tastes.

For your first experience, there are no hard and fast rules, just choose

the duration that suits you and don't forget the video to immortalise your first

    experience !

For those addicted to thrill rides or sports enthusiasts who would like to learn

paragliding, the piloting and aerobatics option is a must.

  • What happens on the day of the flight ?

We meet at our vehicle in front of the 'Cabbé' bus stop above the Golfe Bleu beach

    in Roquebrune Cap-Martin.

Remember to arrive a bit early to give yourself time to park or to walk from the

station if you come by train.

We will meet you and take you to the take-off with our vehicle.

After a short walk of between 2 and 10 minutes, we will arrive on the take-off. Your

instructor will give you a briefing to explain what you need to do. Instructions differ

slightly according to the wind conditions.

Don’t worry: there is nothing complicated !

    - It's important to note that unlike skydiving or bungee jumping, we don't ‘jump’ into

the void! The paraglider is a glider that we launch together with your help.

Depending on the wind, a few walking or running steps will be enough to take off.

    - Example:

After fitting you with a harness and connecting it to the pilot’s, the pilot will ask you

to walk forwards. At first, you will feel a slight pull backwards that prevents us from

moving forward, then this resistance will diminish and it's at this point that we'll

gradually run together to increase speed and you’ll start to feel ‘lighter’.

This is lift off! Your feet leave the ground gently, our weight is gradually taken by the glider,

and your feet continue running through the air.

Then, when you're well away from

the ground, your instructor will seat you comfortably in the harness to enjoy your

    flight.

Now's the time to film to immortalise this incredible experience !

    - At no point will you have the sensation of falling! We need you to stay on your feet

during take-off, because we need your legs to help with the running. We'll be

running for no more than 30 metres.

    - All that's left is to enjoy the flight to the full, but shhh, we're not going to tell you

everything! You should allow around 1h30 for the activity.

  • How to dress for paragliding ?

You'll need trainers or closed-toe shoes to walk and run comfortably. Make sure you

are dressed for the season, with a windbreaker or down jacket, and gloves would

    be nice in winter.

Take something to cover up even if you don't need it on the flight.

At altitudes of over 1000 metres, there can be a big difference in temperature

    compared to the ground.

  • How long does the flight last ?

It depends on the type of flight you choose: 10/15 minutes for a discovery flight,

20/40 minutes for a long-distance or VIP flight.

    - We give a range of times because we fly without an engine, and only the

aerological conditions and the skill of your instructor will allow you to stay in the air

    and gain altitude.

    - You should allow around 1h 30m for the activity, from the time you get in the

shuttle to the time you return to the meeting point.

  • Is there an age limit for paragliding ?

There is no minimum age for flying. We can take a child from 20kg if (s)he is keen,

    no problem.

Regarding the maximum age limit, if the person is mobile, and they can walk and

jog, then we can fly in the right aerological conditions.

  • Can several passengers fly at the same time ?

Yes, with Azur paragliding up to three passengers can fly simultaneously each with

    their own instructor.

  • Is there a weight limit for paragliding ?

As a general rule, there is no minimum weight for paragliding. We take passengers

from 20kg upwards if they want to fly, and at a time of day without too much wind.

    - For the maximum weight, on the Roquebrune Cap-Martin site we take all

passengers up to 80kg who can walk and run 10/15 metres with us to take off.

    - If you weigh between 80kg and 95kg, we need more active participation from you

for the more active take-off run, so it is suitable for more sporty people. This

limitation on passenger weight is due to the configuration of the take-off site at

    Roquebrune Cap Martin.

  • Do you get vertigo when paragliding?

Surprisingly, we don't get vertigo when paragliding because our feet are not

touching touch the ground, and we are comfortably seated during the flight.

    - So don't discount paragliding if you're afraid of heights – you should not feel

vertigo on take-off or in the air

  • Might I get airsick?

For people who are prone to motion sickness (sea, cars, fairground rides, etc.) they

can be affected and become nauseous in the air.

    - However, your instructor's flying style has a major influence on airsickness. If you

tell him or her about your sensitivity before you take off, he or she will adapt his or

her flying style to be more gently.

    - For people who are really sensitive, taking some anti-sickness can be a good

    idea

  • Can you fly paragliders in winter ?

Azur Parapente is open from October to the end of April. The aerological conditions

for flying at Roquebrune cap Martin are particularly good in winter, when we fly at

    the highest altitudes.

  • When is the best time to paraglide ?

The best time to fly in Roquebrune Cap Martin is in winter, from January to March,

which is when we make the most beautiful flights.

    The generous thermals allow us

to soar to heights of over 1,000 metres above take-off, with views of the snow covered Mercantour and even Corsica on the horizon.

  • Who will be the pilot for my first paragliding experience ?

At Azur Parapente, our team of 6 professional pilots all hold state qualifications.

They have made their passion their profession.

    Depending on their competition and

travel schedules, they are available at different times of the year.

  • Can I fly paragliders if I'm pregnant ?

We advise pregnant women not to fly. Even if there are no shocks or risks, we

prefer to tell them to wait and find the right moment to fly serenely.

  • For what reasons can the flight be cancelled ?

When you book a flight, it may be cancelled because of bad weather.

    - We check the weather reports every day, and the day before your appointment, if

we think that your flight will not be able to take place in optimum safety or

comfortable conditions, we prefer to cancel and reschedule.

  • Why are there no flights in summer ?

The Roquebrune Cap-Martin site is a unique environment in Europe, with flying

between sea and mountains between Monaco and Menton.

The only landing area is on the beach of the Golfe Bleu beach.

    - During the summer months, the beach is too busy for a safe landing. That's why

we offer flights from October to the end of April

  • Why does my gift voucher have an expiry date ?

Each year we sell a limited number of gift vouchers to ensure that all our customers

    receive the best possible service.

This number is fixed according to the number of instructors, and the opening times of the Mont Gros flying site.

    - We advise you to book your flight as soon as possible and not to wait until your

    voucher is nearing expiry
